New Release: Smoked

It’s been a long time coming, but I’m overjoyed to report that the Kid Sensation spin-off Smoked has been released.

This one took way longer than anticipated, but it’s also a lot longer than I ever envisioned. At 600 pages, it is by far the longest book I’ve ever written. (Eat your heart out, George R.R. Martin…)

Believe me, it was never my intention for the book to be a weighty tome. But telling the story the right way seemed to require it. (And as I always say, the story tells itself, and this is the way the story ultimately dictated itself to me.)

For those interested, the story takes place – chronologically – between the events of Coronation and Replication.  (There’s also a little bit of overlap with Amped.) Ergo, if you were lining those titles up timewise with the new release, it would be: Coronation, Amped, Smoked, Replication. However, Smoked operates as a standalone, so it’s not necessary to be familiar with the action in the other books.

Now that I’ve pushed this latest chick out the nest, so to speak, I may take a short breather before turning my full attention back to Kid Sensation #10.  Okay, that’s not exactly true; in the interest of revealing a little bit more about what goes on behind the scenes, I’ll share that I got a nasty letter from my HOA recently, so – rather than a breather – I’ve got to take care of some stuff [that they feel] I’ve neglected around my home’s exterior.  Personally, I think the house looks fine:

Anyway, after I take care of the requisite housekeeping matters, it’ll be back to business as usual.  As always, thanks for your support.

    1. Glad to hear you’re excited about the new release! As to the audio version, that might be a while. The book’s around 150K words, which would make for a substantial audio project. Moreover, I haven’t even broached the subject with my narrator – who stays pretty busy – to see when he might be able to fit it in. (Not to mention the fact that I’ll have to review it when he’s done, and that takes a lot longer than you might imagine.) In short, while an audiobook is definitely part of the plan, I don’t have a timetable for it yet.
