It is my great pleasure to report that Incarnation (Kid Sensation #7) has finally been released! Woo-hoo!!!
It actually appeared on Amazon shortly after I hit “Publish,” but I waited until the Great ‘Zon stated that it was “Live” before publicly announcing it.
It’s hard to believe this is the 7th book in the series (not to mention that it’s coming almost right on the heels of Book 6). Needless to say, the series is a blast for me as an author, and I like to think that readers are having just as much fun with the stories and characters as I am.
On a side note, I had previously put forth the question of whether it was better to put books up for pre-order or not. In that earlier post, I discussed the pros and cons of the situation and ultimately – based on reader feedback – decided not to do a pre-order for Book 7. That decision is seemingly paying dividends in that, had I put Incarnation up for pre-order, the publication date I’d had in mind was July 15. So basically, by not doing a pre-order, readers are getting the book 10 days sooner.
That said, there are still benefits to pre-orders, so I’m not swearing off them altogether (although I have to admit that getting a book out sooner rather than later carries a lot of weight).
Anyway, I’m glad I was able to get Incarnation done and make it available as soon as possible, and I hope readers enjoy it.
Thank you sir!
And…It is my great pleasure to announce that I finished my book after having bought it minutes after this post went live… It was a great story and it kept me on my toes till the last page. I am keeping my urge to share the story to all my friends bottled up so that they can buy the book and read the story for themselves… So no spoiler(p.s i accidentaly posted the spoiler for the previous book, incase no one noticed)
Mr. Kevin, Thank you for the wonderful book and may you keep producing more miracles.???
Glad you enjoyed it. Already working on the KS #8 (working title: Isolation), but at the moment it’s taking a back seat to Fringe Worlds #3, which I’m trying to finish in the next couple of weeks.
About time…j/k. Just bought it, time to dig into it.
Aaaaannnnnddd done. Great book. Love the twist
Awesome! Glad you liked it.
Just wanted to let you know that Book 7 is not showing up in the same manner as the previous books. By that I mean that when you look up the previous books, below the author and rating it shows Book 1 of 6, 3 of 6, etc in Kid Sensation (6 book series). Also, weren’t there interquel books that should be listed in that ‘series’ listing as well?
I’m just pointing it out because sometimes searching to an author or series title to find if there is more on Amazon is a little problematic, so I personally look for that note below the author and rating as well as below the description where it shows covers and links to all the books in a series.
I think I know what you’re talking about, but that’s not a function that authors control; it’s something that happens on the Amazon side. My guess is that it’s simply a timing issue (i.e., the novel hasn’t been published long enough for that field to populate). Some of these things just take time. For instance, the paperback version of the book has also been released, but it usually takes a few days before the print and ebook versions link and appear on the same page (although occasionally they fail to link and you have to prod Amazon to make it happen). To be honest, I’ve never paid attention to how long it takes that series info to appear, but of course now I’ll be watching it, so thanks.
I’m mad at you. Great book but I’m still angry at you. I suspected but also how dare you???
LOL! I’m glad you enjoyed it. I’ll keep the aggravation to a minimum in future books. Actually, now that I think about it, I can’t promise that – but I will commit to doing my best to keep readers entertained.
Great twist but I hope the next book comes out soon that was way to short also how dare you leave us on that cliffhanger that’s just not cool man!
If you let my kids tell it, I’m just not a cool guy, LOL. That said, glad you liked the book. As usual, Amazon got the book length wrong; it actually has 263 pages (as opposed to the 215 shown on the product page), but hopefully they’ll fix that soon. As to the story itself, there are obviously a lot of interesting things in Jim’s future.
When will the audio book version of this book come out
It’s going to be at least another month – probably mid-to-late August.
Loved the book Kevin. Only thing hin needs is more character development. He hasn‘t changed much since book 2-3. He needs ton grow up.
I think I managed to order the book before this post was up. For a week I were looking here for the news when the book comes out and also refreshing the amazon search. The book was great and can’t wait what will come next. Only sad thing is that now that the book is over there is wait period for the next book. Maybe I need to listen the series again from the start. Thank you for the great stories
Glad you enjoyed it. KS#8 is second in the queue at the moment – will try to get it to my editor in August and will look to publish shortly thereafter.
Quite an excellent story, only a little predictable, but that is simply because you are such an excellent author.
That said, that ending is so not fair…
Thank you keep up the good work, I look forward to reading the next book at some point in the future.
Thanks – I’m glad you enjoyed it.
So… what is he the Incarnation of? Statistical anomalies?
Ha! You’ll have to wait and see.
How dare you end the book like that…..
I really hope you don’t plan on making us wait very long for the next one man. That was way to much of a cliffhanger. Just mean! But I love it! I guess that makes me a bit of a masochist…..
I plan to finish KS#8 in August. When it actually gets released will be a function of various factors: when I get in back from my editor, how long my review takes, etc. Bearing all the facts in mind, I’m shooting for a September release.
So….. August is about to end. Should I be starting my reread of the series soon?
Hmmm…difficult to answer. I know when I expect to finish the book (barring anything untoward happening), but it’s hard to estimate a release date because my editor stays pretty busy and she will have Fringe Worlds #3 ahead of Kid Sensation #8. All things considered, you can probably hold off for now.
My only confusion is shouldn’t there be a big old Jim statue/idol thing with the rest?
Ahhh! You’re wondering why there isn’t an effigy of Jim outside Permovren, and it’s an excellent question. The answer, however, is more than I can say without giving away too much of what’s to come in future books. That said, there are lots of reasons why that might be the case. Unfortunately, I can’t really address all of them (and certainly not without laying out a bunch of spoilers), but here’s one you can consider: if Incarnates can arise at any time, maybe the answer to your query turns on the question of WHEN such an individual arose and where they were at the time.
Mr. Hardman could it be said that Jim only has one power and that is his ability to adapt in adverse situations causing him to gain superpowers sort of like how his father’s invincibility adapts to stronger weapons.
Back in college, I took a class where we had to read Dracula by Bram Stoker. My professor at the time insisted that Dracula was the consummate novel because it encompassed every theme you could think of: It’s a horror novel. It’s an adventure novel. It’s a love story. It’s a political novel (e.g., East vs West). It’s a socio-economic novel (for example, the class distinctions). The list went on and on. Not being the type to simply accept things at face value, I took time during the class to ask him about this:
“How can you say all that?” I asked. “How do you know this guy just didn’t intend to write a horror novel, plain and simple?”
My instructor said, “It doesn’t matter what the writer intended. It’s what I, as the reader, take away from it.”
I don’t know if his final comment was right or wrong, but in the same vein, I like the fact that readers have their own theories about things in my books, like your take on Jim’s power(s). I like the free flow of ideas, and I’d prefer to encourage that rather than set everything in stone.
With respect to your theory, I suppose the obvious question becomes this: is a thing that causes a power or ability to manifest a power in and of itself? Or is it merely a catalyst? A reflex? Something else?
Your mission, then – should you choose to accept it – is to find evidence in the books, whether direct or circumstantial, that supports your hypothesis. This post will self-destruct in 5…4…
