At Long Last: Replication (Kid Sensation #6) Has Been Released!

I think the title of this post says it all, but I’ll say it again anyway: Replication (Kid Sensation #6) is now available!  (Hooray!!!)  As promised, I uploaded and released the book as soon as I got the manuscript back from my formatting guy.

My goal was to make this a January release, and I’m ecstatic that I came in under the wire, although not by a large margin. (Amazon also helped by publishing in record time; I think the book went from “Review” status to “Publishing” in about 10 minutes, and was available, I think, within like half an hour.)

I actually ended up waiting a bit before announcing the release because I was trying to make sure the book was available in other markets. Amazon UK was pretty much the last holdout, which is odd because I think that, traditionally, they’re usually one of the first to have books available.

Anyway, as I mentioned before, this one weighs in at over 500 pages, so it’s longer than any of my other titles. However, that apparently is the trend, as – looking back – I realize that each book in the series has gotten progressively longer (not counting the short story Extraction).

Needless to say, I’m happy to finally have this one out there. Now it’s back to the grind, with a focus on getting the next book out as soon as possible (and with a much shorter wait this time).  And again, I’d like to thank all my readers for their patience and support.

  1. I think I felt a disturbance in the kindle community like a large mob with torches and pitchforks gave out a great cheer and somewhere an author gives out a great sigh of relief…… Then immediately turns to the next book in the series. 🙂

  2. FINALLY!!! Its been ages since the last book and I was about to go use bolt blast on you if you delayed the book a bit longer. Thanks for the book. I just bought a kindle book to enjoy.

  3. Wooo!! Okay people lower your rifles and put down the flamethrowers. The man has made it, I repeat the man has made it. Through hurricanes, alien invasions, zombie infomercials and fluffy raccoons he has battle them all and scale the mountains to bring us the next installment in “I won’t sleep tonight don’t bother me I’m reading” marathon.

Can’t wait to get out of work and devoured the book. Mr. Hardman Thank you so much and keep making them longer the more the merrier. CHEERS!!!!

    1. Actually, on top on everything else, I had a power outage last week while I was reviewing the manuscript. It came back on after a couple of hours, but I was seriously worried for a minute about how far it would set me back.

  4. Finished the book in record time!! Awesome twist in the Vestibule angle, personally though, I would seriously prefer if you could make Vestibule a permanent addition to Jim’s circle of friends. And on an offnote, is Vestibule the daughter Alpha Prime and Capri were discussing in the exerpt?

  5. Oh my word the ending made me so curious! It was a great read – now I’m SUPER impatient for the next book. Lol kind of like every time I guess.

  6. Oh my god what a ride. And I love the twist with the tittle and everything. Now is there a Facebook group where we can talk about this awesome book. Cuz I need to unload too many things. Too many emotions.

  7. You’ve knocked another one out of the park sir. I can’t wait to read whatever else you have in store for us.

    1. LOL. I’ve got to get Amazon to fix this one first. They placed it in the wrong categories. Had they done it right, I’d have had the nice “#1 Bestseller” ribbon in at least one of the Superhero categories. Instead, I’ve got the #1 Bestseller in “Preventive Medicine” and a couple of other inappropriate categories:

      #1 in Kindle Store > Kindle eBooks > Nonfiction > Parenting & Relationships > Parenting > Health & Nutrition
#1 in Kindle Store > Kindle eBooks > Medical eBooks > Specialties > Preventive Medicine
#1 in Kindle Store > Kindle eBooks > Religion & Spirituality > Spirituality > Inspirational > Conduct of Life

  8. Do you have an estimate as to when the Audio book version will be out? My mother loves these books but has dyslexia and it is hard for her to get through them the old fashioned way!

    1. I already talked to my narrator, and I will be forwarding him what he needs to get started shortly. He’s estimated completing it by 2/15, and then I’ll have to listen to it and maybe suggest changes before it goes up for sale. Depending on how quickly everything gets done, some time around 2/21 is a good guess for the audiobook release.

        1. I’ve given the final approval for the audiobook, so it’s in ACX’s hands now. It can take up to two weeks, but historically it’s been far less than that.

          1. Hey sorry to bother you about this again, I see you’ve already gotten a lot of questions about it. But, what’s the status on the audiobook version. I’m almost finished with Coronation for like the 8th time (I have a long commute to work, ya know). Thanks. Love your stories

            1. Questions like this don’t bother me, so ask as often as you like. As luck would have it, the audiobook just got released today. (Hooray!) You can find it here: https://amzn.to/2Cl9oIE

Thanks for the compliments about my work, and I hope you enjoy it!

      1. Just checking to see if there has been any update on the audio book. Usually Amazon will have books available for pre-order but there is nothing listed for this book on Audible yet.

        Thank you!

        1. You actually have to select to put your book on pre-order. I haven’t done it before because if you bust the deadline, Amazon punishes you by not letting you put books on pre-order for something like a year. That said, at some juncture I probably will start doing it.

    1. I’ve got a few thoughts on that rolling around in my brain. The problem is that, these days, I’ve got way more ideas than time. If I were writing full time, it would be easy; I could crank out a book a month (or more) and address everything I currently have thoughts on in a reasonable time: future adventures, new powers, companion novels, etc. Instead, I’ve got to use my time judiciously and figure out what’s the next best thing to write.

  9. So is the next book going to be the next KS or one of your other series? Or will it be one of the new book series that you released excerpts of?

    1. Actually, the next book is a passion project that’s been rolling around in my brain for about a year. I’ve pretty much had the story laid out in my head for a while, so it’s been quick to write (I’ll probably wrap it up in a week or so). However, it’s not scifi/fantasy, so it’ll be published under a pen name.

As to my usual bread-and-butter, I’ve had a couple of people ask me recently about the next Warden book (which I’ve already started). It’s been a while since the last book in that series, but I haven’t firmly decided what should be next. That said, I’m committed to getting the next novel in each series out this year. (I’m actually shooting to get 7 books released this year, at least 2 of which will be Kid Sensation stories, if all goes well.)

  10. *SPOILERS*
I loved the book, especially how you essentially saved a few chapters just to seemingly close out some loopholes or theories during convo’s with Mouse, BT and Jim.
Also in response to Datta Ravi Teja, I doubt Vestibule’s mother would refer to her own very accomplished daughter as a “super model groupie,” but hey, ask Ember about her mom.

Also I like the way things ended with Ember. After hearing throughout the books that they were just kids and probably wouldn’t be together forever etc, it’s nice to see Jim in a different position in his personal life. He’s met and accepted various relatives he already knew, but this is the first time we see a change from what Jim knows and it’s pleasant. I’m actually on team Myshtal, she was not only a team player when concerned about the whole Jack situation but held off from expressing seemingly obviously apparent (ie. multiple character pointed it out) affection to Jim, just for the distress it would cause him. Woot!

Loved the book, looking forward to that side story!

  11. *Spoilers
I bursted out laughing when Gray said I hope your girlfriend appreciated you using your only favor on freeing her Dad.

    1. I don’t, but you’re not the first to ask me that and I’ve written about it before on my blog: https://kevinhardman.blogspot.com/2018/09/patreon-and-thoughts-on-leaving-day-job.html

Basically, I get paid pretty well by my day job. Thus, if the goal is for me to write full-time, the ask on Patreon would be HUGE. More to the point, I can’t shake the feeling that people would view it as a complete turn-off, with the possibility of backlash.

In short, I like the idea, but I’m not sure of the reception I’d get. I suppose I could just skip posting a specific goal, but if if I’m going to be accepting money from people I’d prefer to be transparent about stuff like that. Hmmm…I suppose I could not post a goal in dollars but regularly report what the monthly patronage amounts to. That way there’s transparency without me appearing to be greedy.

I’ll think on it some more, but again, I’m not sure how it would be perceived.

      1. I don’t like patrons for authors to much because anyone who doesn’t want to pay up 5 dollars or more gets locked out of that community of readers. It’s one thing to give patreon readers access to extra artwork and early drafts that’s fine but when the author locks everything even updates on the release of the next book that’s what gets me and when it becomes a turnoff.

        1. Clearly I don’t know enough about how it works, because I thought the author set the level at which patrons get “locked out.” For instance, maybe for everyone who gives $1/month I let you know what the next release is and how far along I am; for everyone who gives $5/month, I give you a synopsis of the plot and let you see the cover art as it’s coming along; for $10/month I publish short stories chapter by chapter until complete; and so on…

Are you saying that for $1/month you’re completely locked out and get access to nothing? Or is that an author-type decision? (Not to ding authors who may be doing it, but if anyone gave me anything there’s no way I’d completely lock them out.)

          1. I don’t know the lowest money for it but the author seems to get to decide what’s locked And what’s not so yea I think you’ve got it right.

            1. Okay. I’ll think about dipping my toe in the water here, but if it’s up to me I’ll make sure that everyone who supports me gets access to something.

              1. The author gets to decide on what they give out to patrons. Also, the money donated doesn’t need to be monthly in nature, it can be per chapter or some artists use per drawing. Obviously, the dollar amount will vary depending on what type of content you provide. I think the best one for you would be something on the whenever you release some content, be it artwork, chapters or whatnot, you get paid since your day job is busy and you may not be able to do consistent updates in a time period.

                1. LOL. I have to laugh because – despite the lag between the last couple of books – I actually write enough that releasing new content monthly isn’t a problem. In fact, I’ve got tons of content around now from material that I haven’t finished/released. (I even posted some excerpts from unpublished materials on my blog a little while back.) In short, I appreciate you proposing an alternative method, but I think I can go the monthly route without it being too much of a stretch.

                  1. Oh lol. I didnt mean like that. But I hear patreon is really strict about achieving those monthly commitments. A lot of authors have gone to the content route just because it’s more flexible.

                    1. Okay, that makes sense. Enough people have asked me about it that I’ll probably go ahead and do it, so we’ll see how it works out.

  12. (1) Love your work. Been a big fan for a while (2) What’s the status on the Audible release? Crossing my fingers for Tuesday 2/26

    1. As noted above, the audiobook is done. As to when it actually gets released, I’m hoping a week but I’ve heard that the process is now more like a full two weeks. As soon as I get notified I’ll post it here.
